Parental Terms #1: Cake

A normal cake is a desert item made with flour, eggs, sugar, etc. The connotation remains the same when speaking to the children, but has a much broader definition that has been expanded to refer to muffins, whole-grain cinnamon bread, banana bread, and anything else that the three little boys will associate with cake proper. Essentially, they will not eat muffins. Muffins are yucky, but cake is wonderful. Cake is worth eating regardless of hunger. Cake inspires one to break out in song. So, when Sarah bakes blueberry muffins, we offer the boys cake. They called it cake first, so we're just doing our best to communicate. We are by no means tricking our children in to eating something. No really. Honest.
